12 and 6 hour relay or solo of Haag Atletiek
Every year on the third Saturday of June, the Haag Atletiek Club organizes the "12 hour relay". The great atmosphere, the ambience and the team spirit make this event to a unique experience.
A 12 hour relay team contains 6 runners and (most often) a coach. From 9 am till 9 pm the competitors run the 1858 m course alternately, trying to accomplish as many rounds as possible in the available 12 hours. The sum of distances run by all runners of one team is what counts.
A 6 hour relay team contains 4 runners and (most often) a coach. Fit walkers may enter as well; there is a special 6 hours fit walk relay competition.
On both the 12 hours and 6 hours event solo runners can participate.
Course
The 1858 m course is free of traffic. It starts and ends on the athletics course of the Haag Atletiek Club, where team relay runners take over from each other. The route partly runs over the sidewalks of the Laan van Poot and through the dunes nature reserve area behind the athletic course.
To cheer the runners and keep them motivated in spite of their fatigue, there will be music and entertainment alongside the course.
